Fundraisers

Most of the outstanding Service Projects conducted by the Fayetteville Lions require funds. The club tries its best to conduct fundraisers where the public can donate to our very good works, but at the same time get something of value in return. 100% of the money earned through Lion fundraising projects is spent for our service projects. Our administrative expenses are funded entirely from Lions member dues, fees and fines.

Our Fundraisers:
Diabetes Awareness Roadblock
Football & Basketball Concessions

Sports Program Ads
Pecan Sales
Donations

Road BlockDiabetes Awareness Roadblock. The Lions conduct a "Roadblock" collection of donations at high traffic intersections throughout Fayetteville on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Passing motorist are provided a flyer or handout on diabetes awareness and related health information in exchange for the donation of their choice.  Due to safety concerns, this fundraiser was cancelled in 2020 and may or may not be held in 2021.

Football and Basketball Tournament Concessions & Gate. The annual Football Jamboree in August and Basketball Tournament later each Fall are both conducted primarily as a service to the local 7th - 9th grade schools.  But the Lions also use the opportunity to collect some monies for our service project funds. This includes profits over costs for the concession stand at both events, and also profit above operating expenses from entrance gate fees at the basketball tournament. (For the Football Jamboree, all gate receipts in excess of our costs to conduct the Jamboree, are returned to the participating schools.)

Tournament Gate Entrance Fees (no charge for participants and coaches):

Event Gate Price (2023)
Football Jamboree $5.00 at gate; $4.00 presold from school
Basketball Classic (per day) $5.00

Sports Program Ads.  In the Spring and Summer of each year the Lions sell program "ads" to local businesses and organizations (individual ads are also welcome).  These ads are printed in a sports program that is distributed to all attendees of our Football Jamboree and Basketball Tournament. The donor can provide their own ad copy.

Pecan Sales.  The Pecan Sales Project has been ongoing by the Lioness Club for over 35 years with the same supplier company. The Lionesses have now joined the Lions Club. There are 2 pecan choices: Large Mammoth Halves and Large Mammoth Pieces. As always, they are guaranteed to be “this year’s crop” and they will be shelled in October. The project includes pre-sales during September and early October and booth sales during the Host of Christmas Past on the second weekend in November. The pecans are sold for $15/one pound bag. Contact any Lion or the Committee Chair Myrna Reed, 931-433-5080.

The HOCP booth will be at LCHS. It will booth operate on the weekend of HOCP, typically on Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 11-5.

Donations. Of course the Lions would gratefully accept a donation at any time. We can provide a receipt for your donation upon request. If donating by check, make it payable to the "Fayetteville Lions Club" and give to any Lions Club Member or mail to P.O. Box 217, Fayetteville, TN 37334.  If you like you can note in the remarks section that the donation be used for a particular Service Project.
